Portfolio > Shoshone Ice Caves

The Shoshone Ice Caves attraction is a kitschy oasis along a mostly deserted highway in central Idaho.

One is able to tour the actual natural ice caverns, but I was interested in the surrounding man-made area, particularly the re-imagination and appropriation in sculptural form of Native American cultural objects and people.

The display looks and feels like a uniquely American roadside attraction in its colorful yet haphazard interpretation of the pre-historic and cultural history of the area.
